MRS. MARK SCHLUSSEL

Rose Lynn Meckler was wed
to Mark Edward Schlussel in a
ceremony performed Aug. 11
by Rabbi Morris Adler and
Rabbi Israel Halpern at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Meckler of
Birchcrest Dr. Parents of the
bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs.
Irving W. Schlussel of San
Juan Ave.
The magnolia colored, silk
satin gown of the bridegroom's
mother was worn by the bride.
It was styled with a slim skirt,
long sleeves and a high bateau
neckline with a softly rolled
collar. A cathedral-length hand-
made Belgian Pt. Gaze lace
mantilla completely covered the
gown and full length of the
train.
Mrs. Marvin Aronovitz served
her sister as matron of honor.
Judith Meckler served her sis-
ter as maid of honor. Brides-
maids were Mrs. Jerome Rogers,
Beth Rosenthal, Wendy Sax
and Sandra Schlussel, cousin of
the bridegroom. Lori Ruth Sil-
verstone was flowergirl.
Dr. Herschel Schlussel served
his brother as best man. Ushers
were Dr. Marvin Aronovitz, Dr.
Howard L. Chazen of Cleveland,
Barry Goldman, Michael Click-
er, Harold Smith and Roger
Stewart. Junior usher was Ron-
nie Meckler, brother of the
bride.
Upon their return from the
Concord, the couple will reside
in Ann Arbor.

ment department of the Jewish
Agency, concentrating on the
Lachish region.

Mrs. Philip Surath of Bay City entertained at Poolside garden
tea party for 80 guests, in honor of her daughter, Arlene Surath,
of Washington, D. C., and her new granddaughter, Denise, daughter
of Mrs. H. Nodler of Oak Park. Guests from Detroit were Mrs.
Larry L. Shapiro, and Mrs. Ben Berlin.
The Bialistoker Western and Brisker Mlawer Aid Societies
combined at a banquet held July 3 at Jerico Temple. Officers for
the newly formed Bialistoker and Brisker Aid Society will be
elected in Dec.
Ensign and Mrs. Don Tractenberg (Linda Simkin) recently
visited his parents, the Arthur Tractenbergs of Oak Park and
her mother, Mrs. Bess Simkin of Windsor, on their way to San
Francisco where they will depart for Guam, Ensign Tractenberg's
next tour of duty.
Mr. Alex Ruzumna and his son, Dr. Richard Ruzumna are
expected to return from their tour of Moscow, London, Copen-
hagen, Zurich and Paris Sept. 1.
Mr. Harold Caminker and Mr. Joel Selman are in Israel
for seven weeks this summer with the Bar Mitzvah Pilgrimage,
sponsored by the Labor Zionist Organization from New York.
They are at Alonei Yitzchak in Shomron and shall return Aug.
28 after having toured all of Israel.
Roberta Holtzman will return to her home at 20534 Ruther-
ford on Aug. 21 after an all summer stay in Europe where she
toured Portugal and studied in Lisbon.
Matilda . Rosenberg of Whitmore Rd. is leaving Sept. 6 for
an extensive tour of Europe. She has taught several years in the
Detroit Public Schools.

Company Flies New
Owners to Deltona

On Aug. 10, 50 area residents
were flown on a chartered plane
by Alger F. Quast Florida Sales
to Deltona, Fla., Mackle Broth-
ers' seven month old commun-
ity, located midway between Or-
lando and Daytona Beach near
the East coast of Florida. More
than 15 homes and 30 lots were
sold for a total of $248,000. Five
months have passed since Quast
was approved locally for the
sale of homes and homesites at
Deltona, and they have enjoyed
a total of 50 home sales and 250
lot sales since March of this
year for a volume in excess of
$800,000.

Yeshiva University Publishes
Twos Monographs in Series on
Studies in Torah Judaism
Two new scholarly mono-
graphs have been published by
Yeshiva University in its series,
"Studies in Torah Judaism."
Dr. Leo Jung, professor of
ethics at Yeshiva University
and spiritual leader of the Jew-
ish Center, has written "Know-
ledge and Love in Rabbinic
Lore."
Dr. Louis Feldman, associate
professor of classics at Yeshiva
University, has written "Scho-
larship on Philo and Josephus
(1932-1962)."
Dr. Leon D. Stitskin is editor
of Yehiva University's publica-
tions.

2 Jews Receive
Research Grants

Ina Suhd Engaged
to Sanford Lutz

NEW YORK, (JTA) — Two
Jews, one an American, the
other an Israeli, received re-
search grants from the Rocke-
feller Foundation.
The Young Men's and Young
Women's Hebrew Association
of New York was given $6,180
to enable John Simon, a drama
critic, to observe professional
theater groups and university
drama programs outside New
York City. Dr. Dan Atsmon, a
research associate in the plant
genetics section of the Weiz-
mann Institute of Science, at
Rehovot, was awarded $5,800
by the Foundation to under-
write a tour of plant science
research centers in the United
States, Great Brit a i n and
Europe.

MISS INA SURD

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Suhd of
Coolidge Hwy., Oak Park, an-
nounce the engagement of their
daughter, Ina Phyllis, to San-
ford Lutz, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Lutz of Mendota Ave.
Miss Suhd attends the Col-
lege of Education at Wayne
State University. Her fiance is
an alumnae of Wayne State
where he majored in business
administration.
A March 22, 1964 wedding is
