Silverman Jackel
Vows Exchanged

MRS. MILTON SILVERMAN

At a candlelight ceremony on
July 3 at Temple Israel, Michae-
lyn Jackel, daughter of Dr. and
Mrs. I. L. Jackel of W. Outer Dr.,
was united in marriage to Milton
Silverman, son of Mrs. Anna
Silverman of Owosso and the
late Philip Silverman.
The bride wore an ivory silk
taffeta gown with open neckline
and short sleeves. The fitted
cummerbund was of ivory hand-
corded Alencon lace. She wore
a tiny tiara of pearls attached
to a pouf veil of ivory silk illu-
sion and carried white orchids
on her confirmation Bible.
Mrs. Julius Silverman was
matron of honor. The brides-
maids were Mrs. Norman Rob-
iner, Laurie Rosenbaum, and
Janet Cooper.
Julius Silverman served as
best man. The ushers were Carl
Gilbert, Martin Leshman, Nor-
man Steel and Martin Cohen.
After a honeymoon in Puerto
Rico, the couple will reside on
Schaefer Rd.

Citizens Mortgage Corp. Becomes Top Pro Scorer
One of Top Mortgage Companies in Dolph Schayes
U.S. by Acquisition of Union Co.

Citizens Mortgage Corp. has
acquired all stock of Union
Mortgage Co., it was announced
Tuesday by Stanley M. Earp,
president of Citizens ; and Ro-
bert W. Smith, Union presi-
dent.
Citizens' mortgage serviving
portfolio will as a result be
increased to $420,000,00, plac-
ing the firm among the top
seven mortgage companies in
the country.
Citizens Mortgage Corp.
was founded in 1946 by
Adolph and Alfred Deutsch.
As a result of the acquisi-
tion, Citizens President Earp
announced, the Citizens corpo-
ration becomes Michigan mort-
gage loan correspondent for
John Hancock Mutual Life In-
surance Co.
Citizens has long served as
mortgage loan correspondent
for Mutual Life Insurance Com-
pany of New York and many
others of the country's largest
commercial banks, savings and
loan associations, mutual sav-
ings banks and public and
private pension funds.
Citizens also holds a promin-
ent position in the servicing of
mortgages for leading Detroit
financial institutions.
"As a result of this ac-
quisition," Earp said, "Mutual
Life Insurance Company of
New York's servicing port-
folio has been consolidated
so that Citizens Mortgage
Corp. is now that institution's
largest loan correspondent na-
tionally."
Earp announced important ad-
ditions • to the staff of Citizens
to handle the anticipated in-
creased volume of mortgage
loans. He said that John W.
Sparks, a principal of Union
Mortgage Co., had accepted the
vice presidency of Citizens in
charge of commercial loans.
At the time acquisition of
Union Mortgage was announced,
Citizens Mortgage had capital
and surplus of approximately
$2,000,000. Its initial capital,
in 1946, was $150,000. It started
with four employees and now
has approximately 120.
In a formal statement re-
leased at the time acquisition
of Union Mortgage Company
was announced, Harold N. Fiti. -
ney, executive vice president of
Citizens, said:
"Although there has been
considerable emphasis on the
origination and sale of FHA,
VA and conventional residential
mortgage loans, on both single
dWellings and multi-unit apart-
ment houses, including homes
for the elderly,. our firm's ac-

troit financial institution, be-
gan as an FHA-approved
mortgagee, with most of its

grams.
Subsequently, the firm was
appointed loan correspondent
for Royal Neighbors of Ameri-
ca, , a widely known fraternal
life insurance company.
Citizens merged with Earp
Mortgage Corp. in 1948, at
which time Stanley M. Earp
became president and chief ex-
ecutive officer, which position
he still holds. He is also chair-
man of the board of Citizens.
