Last week the Bonn govern-
ment made a series of disclos-
ures about German military aid
to Afro-Asian countries, but it
was stated then that the cabinet
had not discussed military aid
for Israel.
The Sunday Observer said
that "a possible explanation of
this apparent contradiction is
the fact that until a few weeks
ago, many cabinet members
were themselves kept in igno-
rance of the military aid pro-
gram. The training arrangement
with Israel was evidently agreed
on before the recent visit to Is-
rael of former Defense Minister
Franz Josef Strauss."

"Visiting Detroit in the line
of duty as the head of the
division for Hebrew teaching
projects in the Department of
Education and Culture of the
Jewish Agency, I asked the
very polite principal of Hillel
for permission to visit the
classes and converse in He-
brew with the children.
"We were pleasantly sur-
prised by the fluent and good
Hebrew spoken by the chil-
dren, their intellectual alert-
ness, and their wide knowl-
edge of "fanach' and the say-
ings of our sages.
"As an Israeli educator I

master the language with a
poise and self expression far
above the average of their

age even in the mother
tongue.
"As I was told of your part
in this excellent Jewish edu-
cational achievement, it is my
privilege to express my sin-
cere appreciation, and ask
you to extend my thanks to
the brilliant children, and
their teachers."

LOS ANGELES, (JTA) —
Charges that the John Birch
Society was anti-Semitic, fascist
and subversive were rejected
by the California Senate's Un-
American Activities Subcom-
. mittee in a lengthy report.
' The 200-page report summed
up the findings of an inquiry
extending over two years on
political and semi-political ac-
tivities in the state, a center
for a wide variety of such move-
ments all along the political
spectrum.

Day School will be given next
Wednesday, at the annual din-
ner of the s c h o o l at Adas
Shalom Synagogue. Isaac Tou-
