Will Hold Annual
Membership Meeting
The annual membership meet-
ing of the Hillel Day School will
be held 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at
the Jewish Center, 15110 W.
Ten Mile.
Preceding the general mem-
bership meeting, at which a new
administration will be elected to
serve Hillel Day School for the
coming year, the Hillel Parent-
Teachers Organization will also
elect officers.
The program will include a
report and prospectus on the
school's progress and the intro-
duction of the faculty in both
the Hebraic and general studies
departments. The evening will
conclude with the showing of
color-slides of recent Hillel Day
School events, and a social hour.

and Shelley Kessler also re-
ceived "top" award for her
entry in diaries and letters.
Rena Daitch received an "excel-
lent" rating for her dramatic
interpretation. David Rosenthal
and Jeff Serwin were awarded
"superior" ratings for their seri-
ous prose entries. Ross Gross-
man received a "good" rating
for his serious prose entry. Other
Mumford entries were Larry
Brenner, Patty Danto, Dawn
Silver and Norman Snyder.
EDITOR'S NOTE: This is
the last Mumford Musings col-
umn to be written for The
Jewish News by Rudene Mey-
ersohn. The column will be
resumed in the fall by her
replacement. Miss Meyersohn
will begin studies in Septem-
ber in the Michigan State Uni-
versity College of Education.

Of particular interest to the
seniors are their finals on June
10; the marking of cards on
June 12 and 13; the annual
Senior picnic on June 14; Hon-
ors Convocation on June 17; and
commencement exercises and
the prom on June 19.
Junior Phi Beta Kappa awards
honored 43 graduates. A 2.6
scholastic average (3 equals A)
in the subjects studied in the
10th through 12th grade is a
prerequisite. Also a good citizen-
ship record during these three
years is mandatory. The students
honored are David Avrin, Joyce
Brown, Ellen Burnes, David
Chait, Mark Cutler, Steve Dan-
iels, Patty Danto, Carol Derin,

Two seniors have been
awarded scholarships to local
universities. Gale Martin won
this year's AFL-CIO scholarship
for her knowledge in the labor
movement of America. The
scholarship of $300 is payable
to the college of her choice.
Gale s plans to attend Wayne
• State University, where she will
major in foreign languages.
Steve Fisher is a recipient of
a National Mefit Scholarship
award on the basis of his score
on the National Merit Scholar-
ship Qualifying Test. Steve
plans to attend Monteith at
Wayne State University where
he will enter a general curricu-
lum. He has not decided on a
major but is seriously consider-
ing business or art.

gained honors at the annual
Michigan High School Foren-
