Hebrew Academy's Registration for Fall .

The Hebrew Academy of Oak
Park announces that enrollment
for the 1963-64 school year is
now under way.
The Academy is Oak Park's
first Hebrew day school offer-
ing a comprehensive Hebrew-
English curriculuM. A new
chapter in the development of
the school will be achieved this
fall with the addition of a jun-
ior high school section, follow-
ing this year's elementary grad-
uation.
The English education is ap-
proved and supervised by the
Michigan Department of Edu-
cation and all teachers are li-
censed by the state.
The school curriculum corn-
bines public school courses with
brew, the language of instruc-

Argentine Leader
Rabinovich Dies

BUENOS AIRES, (JTA)—
Samuel Rabinovich, a veteran
Zionist and Argentine Jewish
communal leader, died here at
the age of 77. He was one of
the founders and a former
president of the DAIA, the rep-
resentative organization of Ar-
gentine Jewry.
Born in Bessarabia,- Rabino-
rich came to Argentina in 1904
and was a founder of the Argen-
tine Zionist Federation. He was
a former president of the Buenos
Aires Kehilla and of the Argen-
tine Federation of Kehillot. He
was also a founder and former
president of the Argentine
Lodge of Bnai Brith. Active in
the work of the Keren Hayesod,
he was the first president of the
United Campaign here in 1948.
He also served as chairman of
the General Zionist party here.

In response to numerous re-
quests from parents, the age
range of the Shaarey Zedek
Day Camp has been extended to
accommodate boys and girls 4
to 11 years old, according to
Dr. Samuel Glossman, chairman
of the Day Camp committee.
The extension of the program
became possible when the con-
gregation moved to its spacious
new building at Northwestern
Highway and 11 Mile Road. In
order to meet the specific needs
and interests of the various age
groups accommodated, the Day
Camp will be organized in
three separate age divisions and
will utilize three different areas
of building and grounds.
The program of the Shaarey
Zedek Day Camp will include
swimming, swimming instruc-
tion (leading to Red Cross Cer-
tificates), music, arts and crafts,
outdoor camping, overnights,
trips to places of interest, hob-
bies and all other camp activi-
ties.
The first session of the Day
Camp (four weeks) will be
from July 1 to July 26; the
second session (three weeks)
from July 29 to Aug. 16. The
Day Camp meets daily from
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Trans-
portation is available in most
areas. The Shaarey Zedek Day
Camp is directed by Samuel
Milan. Albert Karbal is the
head counselor.
A limited number of openings
is still available. Interested
parents are urged to call the
Day Camp office, 357-5544, for
information and forms of ap-
plication.

The Hebrew Department of
Temple Israel Religious School
will hold closing exercises 8:30
p.m. today at the Temple.
The Maurice Edwin Barr He-
brew Scholarship Awards of
three Menorah Bibles are pre-
sented annually to three stu-
dents, two boys and one girl, of
the Temple Israel Hebrew De-
partment who have distinguish-
ed themselves, not only in schol-
arship but also in the "refined
attributes of character." The
recipients for 1963 will be Muri-
el Nathan, Steven Silberberg
and Stuart Zeiger.
Scholarship and perfect at-
tendance awards, as well as pins
for Junior Choir and Junior Con-
gregation participation also will
be given. A Kiddush in honor of
the Hebrew Department stu-
dents will be tendered by the
Sisterhood following the prayer
and Torah service to be conduct-
ed by Rabbis Leon Frarn and M.
Robert Syme and Cantor Harold
Orba ch.

Role for Synagogues
in Freedom Festival

Churches a n d synagogues
throughout the Detroit-Windsor
area will play an important role
in the 1963 International Free-
dom Festival when they hold
special "freedom" services June
29 and 30.
The clergy of all faiths have
been asked to focus the atten-
tion of their congregations on
the importance of religious free-
dom through sermons emphasiz
ing this phase of democratic
life.
Among those assisting the
festival committee in obtain-
ing cooperation of the various
denominations and religions is
Rabbi -M. Robert Syme of
Temple Israel.
