Kaufman will be the toastmaster. Rabbi Israel I. Halpern will give the tribute to SchluSsel, who is be- ing honored for a lifetime of dedicated service to Beth Abra- ham, to the Detroit Jewish com- munity and to the State of .Israel. Schlussel has been a leader in more than a . score of organizations and has been active in the Israel Bond cam-, paign since.. its initiation. He was one of the leaders in or- ganizing the Israel Bond High Holy Day Appeal. He has been an active Zionist for over 30 years, served as president of the Detroit Zionist Council and of the JNF, was a pioneer lead- er in Young Israel and has served on the boards of the Jewish Welfare Federation and the Jewish Community Council. He is a recognized author- ity on housing. * * * CHARLES TOLMAS, leading New Orleans businessman, has been an Israel Bond purchaser from 1951. Earlier this year he bought $6,000 in Israel Bonds. When the first Israel Independ- ence Savings Bonds were being redeemed, he found two $100 Bonds he bought in 1951.
