The appointment of ROBERT
WECHSLER as campaign chair-
man for the national fund-rais-
ing drive of the American Jew-
ish Congress was announced by
Dr. Joachim Prinz, president.

DR. ZEV ZAHAVY, president
of the Limud Society, announ-
ces the inauguration of the Na-
tional Israel Stamp Club, coin-
ciding with the 15th secular an-
niversary of the State of Israel.
Since September, 1962, the
Limud Society, at 132 Nassau
St., New York, has been func-
tioning as a non-profit organiza-
tion dedicated to the propaga-
tion of Jewish knowledge and
the welfare of Israel.

at Event to Honor Schussel May 27

Salesman." He will appear in
a program of "Humor in Yid-
dish Life."

Judge Nathan J. Kaufman
will be the toastmaster. Rabbi
Israel I. Halpern will give the
tribute to SchluSsel, who is be-
ing honored for a lifetime of
dedicated service to Beth Abra-
ham, to the Detroit Jewish com-
munity and to the State of
.Israel. Schlussel has been a
leader in more than a . score
of organizations and has been
active in the Israel Bond cam-,
paign since.. its initiation. He
was one of the leaders in or-
ganizing the Israel Bond High
Holy Day Appeal. He has been
an active Zionist for over 30
years, served as president of
the Detroit Zionist Council and
of the JNF, was a pioneer lead-
er in Young Israel and has
served on the boards of the
Jewish Welfare Federation and
the Jewish Community Council.
Cantor Ackerman, who host-
ed a leadership reception in ad-
vance of the dinner at which
the guest speaker was Council
President Ed Carey, will lead
in the singing at the dinner.

Parley on Education
TV S1 ated at Brandeis

A national conference on the
economics of educational tele-
vision, commissioned by the U. S.
Office of Education, will be held
by Brandeis University's Morse
Communication Research Center
in conjunction with the Ameri-
can Academy of Arts and Sci-
ences
The four4lay conference, which
opened Thursday at the univer-
sity's Themis House in Weston,
Mass., brought together leading
U. S. and foreign representatives
in the fields of broadcasting, edu-
cation, economics, business, la-
bor, government, science and the
arts. Their chief obejective will
be to discuss and present views
on the needs and means of
financing U. S. educational tele-
vision (ETV) operations. :

Mangel to Address
Aleichem Institute

Gershon Mangel will address
an Oneg Shabbat 9 p.m. today
at the Sholem Aleichem Insti-
tute. An Israeli high school
teacher now serving as an in-
structor in this country, his topic
will be ."The Teaching of Classi-
cal Hebrew Literature to Seniors
in the Israeli High Schools." The
public is invited.

There are approximately one
million persons in Michigan
who are 60 years of age and
over.

JACOB IGRA, director-general
of the Jerusalem Institute for the
Blind, is to spend two years in
the United States in behalf of
the institution which is Israel's
largest and foremost training
center for the blind. Igra will
make his headquarters in the
offices of Keren-Or, Inc., 1133
Broadway, New York, the sup-
port wing of the Jerusalem In-
stitute in the United States.

LEWIS H. WEINSTEIN of
Boston, appointed by President
Kennedy last week to the eight-
member President's Committee
on Equal Opportunity in Hous-
ing, has been chairman of the
National Community Relations
Advisory Council for the past
three years and is a leader in
many other Jewish organiza-
tions. He is a recognized author-
ity on housing.

CHARLES TOLMAS, leading
New Orleans businessman, has
been an Israel Bond purchaser
from 1951. Earlier this year he
bought $6,000 in Israel Bonds.
When the first Israel Independ-
ence Savings Bonds were being
redeemed, he found two $100
Bonds he bought in 1951. He re-
deemed them at maturity value
of $300 and enclosed a check
for an additional amount of
$2,700 to buy a $3,000 Bond, in
addition to his previous purchase
of $6,000 for 1963.

June 9 at the Sheraton-Park

A group of 35 Israeli soldiers,
all of Sephardi descent, is now
attending a special course at the
Technion, Israel Institute of
Technology, in Haifa, aimed at
preparing them for the Insti-

be held in August. The course
was made possible with the
cooperation of the Israel De-
fense Forces and a substantial
grant from the Mitrani Family
Foundation For Studies which
