Senator Wayne Morse Guest
Speaker at Kasle Dinner

U.S. Senator Wayne Morse of
Oregon will be the guest speaker
at the testimonial dinner in
honor of Abe Kasle, to be given
by the Jewish National Fund
June 12, at Cong. Shaarey Zedek,
Morris Brandwine, president of
the JNF Council, announced this
week.
Senator Morse has been one of
the most consistent defenders of
Israel's position in the U.S. Sen-
ate. He was among those who,
last week, joined a group - of
Senators in condemning Nasser
aggression, and he was one of
the co-sponsors of a resolution
introduced by Michigan's Sena-
tor Philip Hart to prevent nu-
clear warfare in the Middle
East.
Hyman Safran will be toast-
master at the dinner which will
mark the completion of the Kasle
Family JNF Forest in Israel.
Brandwine heads the overall
planning committee f o r the
dinner.

Thousands of Jews in Auschwitz

FRANKFURT, (JTA)—Prepa-
rations for one of the largest
and most important mass trials
of alleged war criminals ever
held in West Germany—the pro-
ceedings against 24 persons
charged with killing hundreds
thousands of Jews at Auschwitz
—are being completed here now,
but the arrangements are so com-
plex that the trial may not open
until next January, Dr. Joachim
Greiff, president of the Frank-
furt District Court, said.
According to Greiff, the trial,
once it is opened, may run for
several months. Arrangements
must be made, he said, for alter-
nate judges and reserve jurors
so that the proceedings will not
be intrrupted, once they are be-

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Two
members of a Marrano commun-
ity on a Spanish island returned
to Judaism in a unique double
ritual circumcision ceremony at
Ramat Gan Hospital, the first
father and son circumcision in
Israel.
The participants were Daniel
Belshazar Crispi, 52, and Ra-
phael Crispi, 18, who came to
Israel from Palma de Majorca
to study Judaism. They prom-
ised to return to the island and
bring all other members of the
community back to the Jewish
people. They are now studying
at- Bnai Hadarom Yeshiva.
"We are happy to return to
Jewishness after many genera-
tions during which our fathers
and forefathers lived as Mar-
ranos," they said after the ritual
circumcision.
