Shiefman and Associates
Win Silver Anvil Award

Advance Mortgage Corpora-
tion and its public relations
counsel, Earl Shiefman and As-
sociates, Inc., have been named
winners of the 1962 Silver Anvil
award for "outstanding • public
relations performance in the
field of customer or client rela-
tions," by the Public Relations
Society of America.
Basis for the award was Ad-
vance's quarterly research re-
port on Midwest Housing Mar-
kets which was begun as a pubj
lic service to the housing and
mortgage banking industries in
1960.
The award was made at a
dinner of the Public Relations
Society in New York, May 16.
Buick Division of General Mo-
tors Corporation was the only
other Detroit winner.
Midwest -H o u s i n g Markets,
widely quoted public service sur-
vey, has been a pioneer in many
areas of housing market report-

with parents during this period,
will pay only $2.50 per day, in-
cluding three meals.

Special pre-season rates for
Oakton-Manor (in southern Wis-
consin) are now in effect and
will include the Decoration Day
weekend as well. Children 10
years or under, sharing a room
with two adults, may be accom-
modated free of charge.
Nippersink Manor offers a
'golf tune-up weekend, May 30-
June 2 (Memorial Day weekend)
plus a special June mid-week

Report Federations
Raised $2 Billion

tributed by American Jews in the
past 15 years to their central
community federations and wel-
fare funds for local, national,
and overseas needs, according to
the Council of Jewish Federa-
tions and Welfare Funds' an-
nual report on Jewish communal
services released this week.-
. The 1962 contributions of ap-
proximately $130,000,000 bring
the 15 year total to $1,998,253,-
000. Last year's gifts represent
an increase of $4,400,040. over
the previous year. The data in
the CJFWF report covers serv-
ices supported by central Jewish
bodies in prepared by S. P. Gold-
berg, CJFWF director of budget
research.
The Jewish population's per
capita gift to federated agencies
in 1961 was between $28 and
$30, and the number of annual
contributors is conservatively es-
timated at over one million.
