Friedman, All-America quar- terback at the University of Michigan in 1925 and 1926, had directed development of the University's varsity and intra- mural programs since 1949. Since September, 1962, he has been on a sabbatical leave from Brandeis. In his letter of resignation to Brandeis President Abram L.
