JERUSALEM, (JTA)—United States Ambassador Walworth Barbour met with Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel's Foreign Minister, for a talk reportedly dealing with the possible effects of the new United Arab Republic Federation on the Middle East. The talks, which lasted less than an hour, were by mutual request and were officially described as concerned with matters of particular interest to the Middle East. Stephen Pal- mer, the American Embassy's First Secretary, and senior offi- cers of the Israel Foreign Min- istry, attended the talks. The Foreign Ministry here declined to comment on the agreement reached between Egypt, Syria and Iraq to form a federated tripartite Arab repub- lic. Officials of the Foreign Ministry said that the text of the agreement is being care- fully studied.
