Eisenhower Gets 'Rabbis in Uniform'

"RABBIS IN UNIFORM," the new 370-page book which tells
the complete story of the American Jewish military chaplaincy
for the past 100 years will be among the objects to be housed
in the Eisenhower Museum and Home, Abilene, Kan. Published
by the Association of Jewish Chaplains in the Armed Forces
and Jonathan David, Inc., the book is one of the projects
related to the centennial of the Jewish military chaplaincy,
being observed under the auspices of an ad hoc committee of
46 national Jewish organizations and coordinated by the
National Jewish Welfare Board. Former President Eisenhower
is shown accepting a copy of the book from Rabbi Judah
Nadich, of New York's Park Avenue Synagogue, at the general's
Gettysburg home. Rabbi Nadich, a World War II Army chap-
lain who served in England, France and Germany, was General
Eisenhower's advisor on Jewish affairs in the period after the
war ended when the DP camps were opened in Allied occupied
Germany.
