President's Board

Vows Exchanged
Mrs. Martin Naimark, presi-
dent of the League of Jewish
Women's Organizations of
Greater Detroit, an affiliate of
the National Bureau of Fed-
erated Jewish Women's Groups,
announces that the final presi-
dent's Board Meeting of the
season will be held 12:15 p.m.
Thursday at the home of Mrs.
Irving Beal, 19401 Silvercrest,
Southfield.
Mrs. Samuel B. Danto, Past
president of the League, will
deliver the invocation.
All affiliate presidents, com-
munity relations chairmen and
representative's are asked to
attend.
Reservations must be made
with Mrs. George Brown Fisher.
MRS. EVERETT KELLER
The home of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles H. Gershens -on was the
setting for the April 7 wedding
of their daughter, Frederica, to
Everett Keller, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Philip Keller of Washing-
ton, D.C.
The ceremony was performed
by Dr. Richard C. Hertz.
The bride ware a short gown
using three layers of yellow silk
organza, the bodice done in tiny
petals of yellow and white, with
a coat of the same materials
over the dress. Her headdress
was a tiny pillbox swirled in net
with a short circular veil and she
carried a single yellow rose.
Jane Zwirper of New Jersey
was the maid of honor. Mary
Fisher of Birmingham was the
only bridesmaid. Robert Edgar
Steinberg was best man and the
bride's brother, Ned Peter Ger-
shenson, was the usher.
After supper was served, the
young couple left for the family
home in Florida, from where
they will go to Montego Bay in
Jamaica before taking up resi-
dence in New York City.

of Chi Chapter to Meet

Andrea Lou, to Pfc. William
W. Katzman, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Aaron H. Katzman of

The bride-elect attended the
University of Michigan and is
now a senior in the College of
Education at Wayne State Uni-
versity. Her fiancee was gradu-
ated from Wayne State Univer-
sity. He is serving with the
United States Army at Fort
Benning, Ga. A July 4 wedding
is planned. -

National Head of
Bnai Brith Women
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Mrs.
Leonard Sims of Detroit, a
member of Bnai Brith Women
for nearly 25 years, was unani-
mously elected national presi-
dent of the 135,000-member
Jewish women's service organiza-
tion.
Her election culminated the
organization's five-day biennial
meeting in the nation's capital

when the national representa-
tives voted to hold a first-time
"delegates' assembly" in the
spring of 1965. Mrs. Sims was
an unopposed candidate for the
two-year term presidency, ris-
ing to it from her previous post
as the national third vice-presi-
dent.
Mrs. Sims began her Bnai
Brith Women career in 1939 as
president of the BBW Down-
town Chapter. She was elected
the third vice-president of Bnai
Brith Women in 1961.
During the previous biennial
period, 1959-1961, she was the
national Anti-Defamation League
chairman. From 1957 until 1959,
she was the organization's na-
tional membership chairman.
After her chapter presidency,'
Mrs. Sims became president of
BBW's District 2. She is an ac-
tive member of the Jewish
Community Council and a num-
ber of interfaith groups.
The people of Detroit are the
starring actors in a new, locally
produced, narrated filmstrip
entitled "Odyssey of a City."
The production tells the
human relations history of De-
troit since 1900, the prejudice,
discrimination, hate, fear and
violence, and the attempt by
government, organizations, and
individuals to promote under-
standing and good-will among
Detroit's citizens.
"Odyssey of a City" will be
presented at the fourth annual
Adventures in Human Relations
Workshop conducted by the
Metropolitan Detroit Bnai Brith
Women's Council and the Michi-
gan office of the Anti-Defama-
tion League of Bnai Brith on
Wednesday at the Engineer-
ing Society, Rackham Memorial.
The script was written by Dr.
Betty Chmaj, Detroit historian,
narrated by Shelby Newhouse,
WWJ announcer, and produced
by the Anti-Defamation League.

Rohlik Prizes, Farband Award Nominations
Made at Wayne State University
Nominations for the second
and third Rohlik Prize and the
appointment for the Farband-
Labor Zionist Order Award
have been made by Dr. Abram
Spiro of the Department of
Near Eastern Languages and
Literatures. at Wayne State
University.
Recipients of the second and
third Rohlik Prize nominations
and the Farband Award ap-
pointment a r e, respectively,
Barry M. Gittlen, Kathleen Ran-
dall and Earl B. Weissman.
Gittlen was cited as a "very
gifted and devoted student' of
Near Eastern. Languages and he
excels in both Hebrew and Ara-
bic."
The recommendation for Miss
Randall stated, in part: ". .
(she) has a great and profound
interest in Biblical studies. She
has a very fine, perceptive mind
and great enthusiasm for the
subj ect."
It was said of Weissman that
he "puts in long hours in the
study of Hebrew for which he
has a great passion. He is mak-
ing remarkable progress in the
