Basilius, director of WSU Press; Dr. Mil- ton Rosenbaum, chairman of the department of psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Med- icine at Yeshiva University; Prof. Bernard- Mayo of the Uni- versity of Virginia and Dr. Wilbert Snow, "Poet of the Maine Coast." In his essay on "The Growth of Self-Insight," Prof. Dorsey delves into the humaneness and language of insight, its learning process, the roles of educator and physician. He submits: "The law governing the development • of humane- ness is: . conseious living of one's world as constituted of one's own human being." Dr. Dorsey asserts that "knowledge exists only as evi- dence of a life, as a sign of a human being. Scientific knowl- edge is founded upon observa- tion. Every observation is the observer's own mental product." "Goethe's Conception of Indi- . viduality and Personality" is the subject of Dr. Basilius' essay. Dr. Mayo wrote on Thomas Jefferson's Faith in Human In- tegrity." Dr. Rosenbaum's topic is "The Whole Individual: A Health View," and Dr. Snow's "Individuality in the Work of Ralph Waldo Emerson." The Franklin Memorial Lec- tures are co-sponsored by Tem- ple Beth El and Wayne State University in tribute to the memory of Dr. Franklin. `Psychoanalytic Appreciation' Essay by Prof. J. M. Dorsey An essay by Prof. John M. Dorsey, "A Psychoanalytic Ap- preciation of American Govern- ment," which appeared in Ameri- can Imago, has been reprinted for distribution as a pamphlet. In this essay, Prof. Dorsey deals with issues relating to American education; leadership, representative government, ma- jority rule and equality. Cong. Bnai Moshe, which re- cently voted to affiliate with the United Synagogue of America, will formally receive its charter at a special late Friday night service 8:15 p.m. today. The presentation will be made by T. George Sternberg of Bay City, president of the Michigan Region of the United Syna- gogue, and will be accepted by Rabbi Moses Lehrman and Norbert Reinstein, president of Bnai Moshe. Hazan Louis Klein will chant the service. A kiddush will be served at the conclusion of the -service by Mrs. James Sobel and her chil- dren in honor of Mr. Sobel's 75th birthday. • The Bnai Moshe Religious School Parent-Teacher Organiza- tion will hold a Passover work- shop 10 a.m. Sunday at the syna- gogue.
