My sister Malka (Gage) is
suggesting this column . . . all
about a man named Malcolm
Hay who was himself deeply
Catholic and also campaigned

world.
"Oh," exclaims Malka, "such
a Christian deserved an entire
column in the Jewish press
which notices so much of the
pain of anti-Semitism. Please
give a column to this Malcolm
Hay. He was buried a few
weeks ago but such a man de-
serves to be helped to keep on
living."
From her friends, the Ell-
manns of Detroit, Malka has
received a clipping of a column
by Philip Slomovitz, in De-
troit's Jewish News. The col-
umn was all about this good
man Malcolm Hay, and Malka
was saying, "You yourself
should serve a column to the
immortality of such a man."
So I'm glad to go along all
the way in celebration of this
worthwhile life which though
devoutly Christian cared vali-
antly for justice for the Jew-
ish people.
Writer Mr. Slomovitz reports
that Malcolm Hay (his title was
"Colonel") was an outstanding
philo-Semite. But: "His death
was practically unnoticed in the
press and it would be most de-
plorable if he were to be for-
gotten."
And my sister Malka adds,
"So it's up to you who write
for the Jewish press to go
along with Mr. Slomovitz to-
ward the immortality of such
a high character as Malcolm
Hay."
Malcolm Hay was a Catholic
of England, and Mr. Slomovitz
tells of a notable book Col. Hay
wrote. It's title was "Foot of
Pride" which Mr. Slomovitz de-
scribes as "a heroic appeal in
behalf of Zionism, a strong con-
demnation of anti-Semitism
and a defiance of his own Cath-
olic f ell o w-churchmen who
were admonished by him to
condone prejudice against
Jewry."
Yes, good Malcolm Hay pass-
ed almost unnoticed off the
earth, except for the Solemn
