Rose' Diana Lachover
Dies; Pioneer Women
Set Up Memorial Fund
Rose Diana Lachover, of
17300 Stoepel, a former school
teacher who turned her atten-
tion to art and distinguished
herself in many activities, died
March 7.
Surviving her are her hus-
band, Abraham, one of the
most prominent Hebrew educa-
tors in Detroit; her mother,
Mrs. Fanny Lober; a brother,
Herman, and two sisters, Mrs.
Louis Gross and Mrs. Harry
Weiner.
One of the founders of Cha-
nah Czenesh Chapter of Pidneer
Women, Mrs. Lachover had
taken a deep interest in Israeli
and Zionist affairs as well as
in civic projects.
Pioneer Women's Organiza-
tion announced' the establish-
ment of a memorial fund in
tribute to Mrs. Lachover, funds
to go for the naming of a shelf
in her memory in the Sophie
Udin Library at the Hebrew
University in Jerusalem. Gifts
towards this fund can be sent
to the Pioneer Women's Organi-
zation, 19161 Schaeffer. .
Boston Rabbinic
Leader Chayet Dies
BOSTON, (JTA) *- Rabbi Ber-
nard L. Chayet, former president
of the Council of Rabbis of Mas-
sachusetts and an associate
justice of the Rabbinical Court
of Greater Boston, he died here
March 7, aged 68. Following
services here, the remains of
Rabbi Sheyet were taken to New
York International Airport to be
flown to Israel for interment
there.
Born in Lithuania, Rabbi
Chayet served as chief rabbi of
Estonia before coming to Boston
30 years ago. He was a founder
of the Associated Synagogues of
Greater Boston. He was spiritual
leader of Congregation T or a s

Yiddish Journalist
Zuckerman Dies at 72
NEW YORK, (JTA) - S. Z.
Zuckerman, prominent Jewish
journalist, an early associate of
the „Jewish Telegraphic Agency,
and more recently managing edi-
tor of the Day-Jewish Journal,
died here Sunday, aged 72.
Zuckerman was born in Lithu-
ania, educated in a yeshiva,
taken by his family to South
Africa at an early age, and came
to this country in 1905. He had
been associated with the Yiddish
press for 40 years.
