Council's Ord Delegate Assembly to Be Addressedby Isaac Toubin The season's third .delegate assembly of the Jewish Com- munity Council, according to Stanley J. Winkelman, presi- dent, will convene 8:30 p.m. March 20 at the Jewish Center. In keeping with the Council's 25th anniversary celebration, the theme of all delegate assem- blies throughout this season . is "Then and Now." . In observing this theme, the program portion of the forthcoming - assembly will be.concerned with an analy- sis of the new problems and situations faced by American Jewry of the 60's. Toubin will discuss the effect of the American environment on historic and traditional Jew- ish values, the emerging role and function of an American Jewish community, the respon- sibilities of the Jewish commu- nity to its own internal strength, to its cultural continuity and tO issues of broader social con- cerns such as civil. rights. Toubin's presentation will be preceded by remarks and ques- tions directed to the speaker by Dr. Samuel Krohn, chairman of the Internal Relations Commit- tee and Irving Pokempner, chair- man of the Culture Commission. Mrs. Philip Bernstein, chair- man of the delegate assembly planning committee, which ar- ranged the program, noted that the format of the program will allow time for a discussion of . questions raised by the dele- gates. The business portion of the meeting which will precede the program will include a summary of current Council activities by the executive director, Walter E. Klein, and a report of the nominating committee submit- ted by Hyman Safran. Under Council procedure, ad- ditional nominations for candi- dates for officers and Executive Committee vacancies may be made by petitions signed by five delegates and submitted to the Council office within 14 days after the forthcoming delegate assembly. The elections will be .held at the season's final meet- ing. A social hour will follow the conclusion of the assembly.
