Officials of the Israel Trade Commission supervised the ar- rival at the Port of Newark, N.J., of the first 1963 shipment of Jaffa oranges from Israel to be sold extensively in this country from January through April of this year. Approximately 25,000 crates were introduced into the United States during the last-season to be sold in 30 limited markets. This year 120,000-.150,000 crates will arrive to be sold in super- markets and other food stores including Detroit. The Dexter-Davison Markets in all three Metropolitan Detroit areas were among the first in the country to sell Jaffa oranges laSt year and again will handle the product this- year. Already, according to Norman Cottler, owner of this chain of super- markets, requests for them are pouring in in advance of the arrival of the oranges due here this week. The Jaffa oranges are noted for their large size, fine flavor, seedlessness and easy peelability.
