(Direct JTA Teletype Wire to The Jewish News) TEL AVIV—The threat of a nationwide shutdown of news- papers in Israel was posed Wednesday by demands of Israeli printers for increased pay which were adamantly op- posed by the Histadrut. The Histadrut, citing general economic needs to stabilize the economy, warned the printers against any sudden strike move and the printers were scheduled to discuss the deadlock. The Histadrut, meanwhile, was‘ facing internal wage de- mands by its own . sick fund clerks. Histadrut officials re- jected those demands despite a strike threat. Another demand for more pay arose when the crews of El Al Airlines were recognized as an "independent" body within the general El Al workers union on Tuesday. Golda Meir Hopes for No Delay in Israel Euromart Negotiations OVER 650 GALS at Youth JERUSALEM, (JTA) — Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel's Foreign Minister, expressed the hope that the current difficulties within the European Economic Community would not cause de- lay in negotiations, for an Is- raeli link with the six member nations. Replying to questions at a Foreign Press Correspondents luncheon she said that while the difficulties arising from France's effort to bar British entry into the Common Market were "of concern to all," she did not see how developments in British-French relations could in any way affect Israel's relations with France. The newspaper said that or- ders had been increased from 30 jets to 96 and that more than 50 were believed to have already been delivered. The newspaper said the high speed fighter planes were being flight tested and ferried to Israel from an airfield near Marseilles and carry "French markings." The report said that France sources had never officially con- firmed a Mirage pact with Israel but that . the first order was known to have been signed by Prime Minister David Ben- Gurion in June, 1960. The value of the total order is estimated at about $112,000,000, the Ex- press asserted, adding that "by the middle of next year Israel will have twice the supersonic fighter power of the British Royal Air Force." The Israeli bomber force is currently equipped with the Vaoutour, which is subsonic and no match for the Russian MIG 21 planes currently based in Iraq, Syria and Egypt. DINING OUT?
