"The Jewish mystic devel- oped metaphysics so that every fragment of it is a spark of the divine fire and every clinker has some glow of the divine," Prof. Kaplan said. "Even the most trivial thus become en- dowed with greater signific- ance." His address was anecdotal and he told numerous Hasidic tales and parables which de- lighted the audience. His paeans to Hasidism were' marked by his evaluation of Psychiatric approaches today with those which proved so pow- erful in the Hasidic movement. Jewish mysticism, he stated, "has the capacity to share in the work of Creation." He added that Hasidism came with a mes- sage that no one is superior, that when two Jews stand side by side in equality there is the Shekhina." Prof. Kaplan was introduced by Dr. Martin Naimark. Brief addresses were delivered at the dinner by Dr. Aaron Blake, president of Alpha Omega, who spoke of the fraternity's deep interest in Jewish communal affairs, and Dr. Henry Green, the fraternity's new regent.
