Vaad Harabothin
Rallies to Aid of
Telshe Yeshiva

The Council of Orthodox Rab-
bis of Detroit (Vaad Harabonim)
will meet 10:30 a.m. Monday at
Cong. Beth T e f i 1 o _Emanuel,
18515 Wyoming, to map plan
to aid in the rebuilding of the
Telshe Yeshiva in Cleveland.
The Yeshiva was victim of a
fire on Jan. 1 which destroyed
a dormitory and claimed the
lives of two of its students. The
building had housed 67 pupils.
As a result of the blaze, Ohio
state authorities have condemned
two other frame dormitories,
creating the displacement of
more than 150 students.
State officials also have or-
dered that the Mechina building,
which houses the Bais Medrash,
classrooms for the various
shiurim, dormitories for the Me-
china and the secular high school
be vacated by the end of the
winter term, Rosh Chodesh
Nisan.
The cost for re-establishing the
institution has been estimated at
more than $200,000, according,
to its president, Rabbi Ch. Mor-
decai Katz, who will head the
delegation to Detroit for the
meeting. Those who wish infor-
mation on the project may do
so by contacting a member of
the Council of Orthodox Rabbis
of Detroit.

Israel Citrus Farmers
Welcome Heavy Rains

TEL AVIV, (JTA)—Real win-
ter rains finally began here in
almost all parts of Israel includ-
ing those areas which hitherto
had no rain.
The Lachish area received
some rain while Eilat had heavy
showers all morning. While win-
ter crops are already lost, farm-
ers here are hoping the rains
will help yield good pastures and
the rains were welcomed by cit-
rus growers. Replowing of fields
was necessary in almost the
entire Negev.
