Himmler's Ex-Aide
Prepared Not to Seek
Seat in Parliament

ATUNICH, (JTA) - Dr. Max
Frauendorfer, ex-aide to Hein-
rich Himmler and former SS
colonel, said he is "prepared"
to give up his efforts to become
a member of the West German
Bundestag, the lower house of
Bonn's parliament.
He had been named to a seat
in the Buncistag, recently vacated,
by the Christian Democrats in
Bavaria, who are allied with
Chancellor Konrad Adenauer's
Christian Democratic Union.
There have been many sharp
press and public protests against
his selection for the parliamen-
tary seat.

Trial of Skorzeny

VIENNA, (JTA)-A warrant
accusing Otto Skorzeny, former-
ly a high official in the Nazi
SS, of having committed war
crimes, was issued by the Aus-
trian Minitsry of Justice.
Acording to the charges,
Skorzeny had invented a poison-
loaded .pistol which, under his
supervision, was tested on Jew-
ish inmates at the Sachsenhau-
sen concentration camp. He was
also accused of part responsi-
bility for the demolition of two
synagogues in this city during
the Nazi regime.
Skorzeny, an Austrian citizen,
now lives in Madrid, where he
conducts an export-import bus-
Mess. It is believed unlikey
that the Spanish Government
would extradite him.
Skorzeny gained notoriety in
1943 when he led a German
commando that temporarily res-
cued the late Benito Mussolini,
after the fall of the fascist
regime in Italy. In 1947, he was
tried but acquitted by an Allied
War Crimes tribunal, when he
was accused of torturing and
murdering about 100 Americans
who had been taken prisoners
by the German army during the
war.

The McGraw-Hill Book Com-
pany and Dr. William F. Al-
bright, famed Orientalist and
Biblical archaeologist, have
signed a long-term contract, ac-
cording to David H. Scott, Mc-
Graw-Hill's religious book editor.
Dr. Albright will devote his
time from now on chiefly to
writing new books, editing se-
lected lectures and papers from
his vast file of unpublished ma-
terial, and collecting his most
significant published studies in
revised form for hardbound pub-
lication.
