Comparing changes in De-
troit's community organizations
and social services since the
founding of the Council 25 years
ago with the present status of
the local Jewish community
services, Isidore Sobeloff, execu-
tive vice-president of the Jewish
Welfare Federation, in an ad-
dress at the midwinter delegate
assembly of the Council, last
week, pointed out that the loca-
tion of social service agencies
"mirrored" the local Jewish
population's neighborhood move-
ments.
He noted that "all of the
visible physical assets of our
organized community of today
represent relatively recent
growth and are the expression
of the comparatively new com-
munity."

Envoy to UN Parley

NEW YORK, (JTA) — Dr.
Isador Lubin, prominent econ-
omist and economic consultant
to the Jewish Agency for Israel,
Inc., has been appointed United
States delegate to the United
Nations conference on the Ap-
plication of Science and Tech-
nology for the Benefit of Less
Developed Areas to be held in
Geneva next month. •
Lubin, who also serves as eco-
nomic consultant to the Twen-
tieth Century Fund, left for
Israel for consultations in con-
nection with the Jewish Agency
budget for the coming year and
will proceed from there to
Geneva for the opening of the
UN conference on Feb. 4.
