People Make News

"Tenuvas Zion," "Fruit of
Zion," written in Hebrew, is the
title of the recently published
book by Rabbi Ben Zion Rosen-
thal, of Cong. Shaare Torah An-
ashe Maariv, Chicago.
Rabbi Rosenthal, a member of
the Union of Orthodox Rabbis,
is in charge of
the Kashruth
department of
the Wilno Ko-
sher Sausage
Co. of Chicago.
He recently re-
turned fro m
Israel where
he visited
many Yeshi-
voth and in-
Rosenthal stitutions of
learning and also met with some
of the most outstanding Ortho-
dox Rabbis and scholars.
His volume has been accepted
by rabbis and Talmudic scholars
in the United States and Israel
and has been described as a
contribution to Biblical and Tal-
mudic research.

CHARLES H. SILVER, presi-
dent of the International Syna-
gogue, announces that the dinner
in celebration of the ground-
breaking of the International
Synagogue at Idlewild will be
held March 10, at Americana
Hotel. The International Syna-
gogue will be built across from
the International Arrival Build-
ing and will stand side by side
with the Protestant and Catholic
Chapels as • a symbol of the
American heritage of freedom
of worship and conscience. Mod-
eled after the oldest Jewish
house of worship in America,
the Mill Street Synagogue . in
New York, it will house a syna-
gogue; daily chapel, meditation
room, library-reading room, mu-
seum and a Jewish Information
Center, where material will be
provided for the dissemination
of authentic information on Jews
and Judaism.

Sir ISAAC WOLFSON, noted
English business leader, will
visit the United States from
Jan. 25 through mid-February,
to discuss with American bank-
ers and businessmen, expansion
plans for the Industrial Devel-
opment Bank of Israel. Sir
Isaac is a member of the bank's
board of directors, which is
composed of English, American
and Israeli • businessmen and
bankers.

Mizrachi Again
Sends Passover
Care Packages •

The Detroit Mizrachi will again
send this year Kosher for Pass-
over Care packages to Israel,
following a tradition of Mizrachi
to handle the Care packages be-
fore Passover holidays as a pub-
lic service.
A list of hundreds of needy
families in Israel is available at
the Mizrachi office. Care Pass-
over packages can also be sent
to friends and relatives. The
packages will contain vital foods.
The price for • each package is
$12. It is important that orders
come in as early as possible be-
cause there are a limited num-
ber of packages.

excerpts from public addresses
of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi
MENACHEM M. SCHNEERSON,
was published in New York thiS
week. The volume, appearing in
Yiddish and in part in Hebrew,
contains excerpts from public
talks by the world leader of the
Lubavitcher movement delivered
during 1950-1962.

been reappointed chief of ped-

Israel's Education Budget
More than 160,000,000 pounds
($53,000,000) was spent by the
government of Israel on the edu-
cation needs of the country dur-
ing the past year.

Dvora Orenstein Will Address Kvutzah Ivrith

Dvora Orenstein, Israeli edu-
cator on the staff of the United
Hebrew Schools, will address the
Kvutzah Ivrith (Hebrew Culture
Society) 9 p.m. Saturday at the
Jewish Center.
A native of Israel and grad-
uate of Jerusalem's Hebrew
Teachers College, Mrs. Orenstein
will relate her experiences of
teaching immigrants to Israel
with the establishment of t h e
state in 1948. She is the author

of a number of children's stories.
