pean representative of the Israel
Citrus Marketing Board, reported.
He said 300,000 cases of Israeli
oranges arrived in London before
Christmas and were sold in Lon-
don and the provinces at prices
slightly below those of last year.
Only 50,000 cases of fruit were
shipped to the European conti-
nent, mostly to Scandinavian
countries and sales there were
satisfactory, he added.
He said that sales might be
helped by the fact that a large
portion of the Florida citrus crop
in the United States was lost by
the unseasonal cold wave of early
December. He said that while
everyone sympathized with the
consequent losses to Florida
growers, sales by Israel and other
fruit exporters to Europe prob-
ably would be increased because
of the mishap in Florida.
