Coordination Urged for

BELLE HARBOR, N.Y.,
(JTA)—A call for the estab-
lishment of a permanent com-
mittee to coordinate the activi-
ties of the four Orthodox rab-
binical organizations now 'in ex-
istence in this country was is-
sued here at the annual conven-
tion of the Union of Orthodox
Rabbis of the United States and
Canada.
The call was issued by Rabbi
Judah Altuski of The Bronx,
who told the parley that the
various branches of organized
Orthodoxy in America must
"discuss the future, and create
a common platform for all earn-
est - and well-intentioned Ortho-
dox rabbis."
In . another address, Rabbi
Shlomo David Shapiro of Brook-
lyn called upon the rabbis to
come out clearly in favor of

More than 3,000 p e o p 1 e,
among them hundreds of chil-
dren, were in attendance last
Saturday at the service that
marked the dedication of the
new Shaarey Zedek sanctuary.
In his sermon Rabbi Morris
Adler uttered a solemn prayer
of thanksgiving for the con-
gregation's achievement in rais-
ing the community's spiritual
standards and in aiming at
attaining the highest goals in
the training of the youth and
in retaining Jewry's noblest
ideals.
Rabbi Irwin Groner and
Cantors Jacob H. Sonenklar and
Reuven Frankel participated in
the service.
The Torahs that were trans-
ferred from the old building
to the new at Northwestern
Highway and 11 Mile Road
were placed in the new syna-
gogue's beautiful Ark by the
congregation's notables who
formed a solemn procession.
The honored aliyah of shlishi
was given to one of the vener-
able leaders of the congrega-
tion, M. H. Zackheim, a former
president.
The first Bar M i t z v a h,

A Young Marrieds Group has
been formed at Cong. Beth Ab-
raham with Nate Polasky as
president.
Other officers are Jeff Gar-
ton and Allen Schreier, vice-
presidents; Robert Feldman and
Marilyn Fishman, secretaries;
and Rose Blake, treasurer. The
mates of these officers become
members of the board.
Charter members are Mssrs.
and Mesdames Lloyd Fishman,
Fred Kandel, Robert Polasky,
Allen Schreier, Marvin Garton,
Alvin Iwrey, Neil Garrett, Shel-
don Fishman, Marvin Berlin,
Nat Fishman and Rabbi and
Mrs. Israel Halpern.
The Group will meet Jan. 14
at the synagogue. Those inter-
ested in joining the Group
should contact the synagogue.

School will hold its "Annual
Dedication to Jewish Learning"
program 8:15 p.m. today in the
main sanctuary.
Seventy - five youngsters of
grade one will be initiated of-
ficially into Jewish education

ence Zacks, who is the instructor
of the two classes, and Abraham
Silver, who assists in the singing
area, plan to present a program
involving all of the students.

congregation on "Learning — A
Mile Long — An Inch Deep."

name of their parents. Refresh-
ments will be served by the sis-
