German Pupils Attend
War Crimes Trial

FLENSBURG, (JTA)—A Jew-
ish doctor, _testifying in the trial
of former SS Major Martin Fel-
lencz on charges of killing 40,000
Jews in Nazi-occupied Krakow in
Poland, said that "only another
Dante could describe what hap-
pened."
The audience before which he
testified included school children
and their teachers who filled the
visitors benches. Initially Ger-
man public interest in the trial
was negligible but interest has
been growing steadily and the
children and their teachers are
getting a first-hand acquaintance
with the ultimate meaning of
Nazi racial theories. Screams,
shots, blood, dead bodies are the
content of the facts recalled reg-
ularly by Jewish witnesses from
Israel, the United States, Canada
and Holland.

West German Firm

Who Insulted Israel

(Direct JTA Teletype Wire
to The Jewish News)

HAIFA—The company repre-
senting the West German ship-
ping firm employing Manfred
Gottlicher, 18, indicated Tues-
day it would not pay the fine
of $667 imposed on the sailor
for insulting the State of Israel
and shouting "Heil -Hitler" in
Haifa.
The sailor also was sentenced
to four months in prison. The
fine was levied as an alterna-
tive to an additional six months
imprisonment which he will
have to serve since the fine
will not be paid.
