the new synagogue, 27375 Bell
Rd., Southfield.
Prof. Simon has had a distin-
guished career as an educator in
his native Germany, in Israel
and the United States. After he
received a Ph.D. summa cum
laude from Heidelberg Univer-
sity in 1923, he taught at Ger-
man grammar schools and at the
Freie Judische Lehrhaus of
Franz Rosenzweig in Frankfort
from 1925-1928. He was editor
of the monthly "Der Jude" with
Martin Buber, 1923-25.
In 1928 he immigrated to Pal-
estine where he taught history
and education at the Girls Teach-
ers Training College of the Miz-
rachi at Jerusalem, the Hebrew
Secondary School at Haifa, the
Secondary Model School of the
Hebrew University at Jerusalem
(as acting principal from 1933-
1940), and in the Hebrew Teach-
ers College in Jerusalem. Since

BRUSSELS ( J T A ) — The
final meeting of representatives
of the European Economic Coln-
, munity and Israeli officials in
l the first round of talks seeking
some kind of Israeli trade ties
with the Euromart nations end-
ed with the next step set for
January.
Completion of the initial
phase of the talks set in motion
a complicated machinery for
subsequent stages. The EEC
officials will next report to the
EEC which will send that report
to the EEC Council of Ministers.
At the same time, the partici-
pants in the talks from the six
Euromart nations will submit
their reports on the talks to
their respective governments.
All seven of the reports will
be ready for the Council of
Ministers for their meeting here
in January. After consideration,
the Council will give the mixed
delegations to the talks guid-
ance for the next stage of ne-
gotiations which are expected
to start in February. The Israeli
delegation will make its • report
to Jerusalem in the meantime.

1940, he has been a lecturer in
the Foundations of Education at
the Hebrew University.
From 1956-1957, Prof. Simon
was a visiting professor of edu-
cation at the University of Juda-
ism in Los Angeles. In 1947-1948,
he held the same title at the
Seminary in New York. From
1944-1946 he was chairman of
the department of education at
the Hebrew University.
Prof. Simon has been honorary
editor of the Hebrew Monthly
"Ba'ajoth" (Problems); member

gious Youth Aliyah and member
of the Board of Trustees of the

dia (in Hebrew); member, board
of the Leo Baeck Institute, Jeru-
salem. He is the author of many
books in German, Hebrew and
