Music Study Club Presents Annual
Concert with Perlman, Greenspon
Itzhak Perlman, 17-year-old
violinist, and Muriel Greenspon,
mezzo-soprano, will be featured
in the Music Study Club of De-
troit Annual Artist Concert 8:30
p.m. Sunday at the Institute of
Arts, announced President Mrs.
A. Victor Bizer.
A native of Israel, Perlman
arrived in the United States
from Tel Aviv in 1958 and ap-
peared on the Ed Sullivan Show
on television. His performances
have been praised by Leonard
Bernstein, Yehudi Menuhin.
Isaac Stern, Jascha Heifetz and
other music world notables.
Perlman is scheduled to make
a guest appearance in Carnegie
Hall in March, 1963 as soloist
with the National Symphony
Orchestra.
The young artist's talent was
discovered in his early child-
hood and was developed despite
a severe physical handicap. He
was stricken with polio at the
age of four and his violin les-
sons began the following year.
It was no surprise, for at the
age of two he had the ability
to sing with unerring pitch.
Perlman now is a student of
Ivan Galamian at the Julliard
School of Music.
Detroit - born Muriel Green-
spon has been active in Detroit
