Hadassah Groups Plan Hanukah
Festivities, Speakers, Luncheons

In addition to speakers and
luncheons, Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah groups will begin
Hanukah festivities at meetings
this week.
LIVONIA GROUP will hold
its annual latka party and Ha-
nukah gift shop 8:30 p.m. Tues-
day at the home of Mrs. Edward
Silberstein, 26219 Clarita, Red-
ford. Michelle Schurgen, who
recently returned from Israel
where she resided in a kibbutz,
will speak on "An American in
Israel."

UNIVERSITY EAST a n d
SHERWOOD GROUPS will hold
a joint meetnig 12:30 p.m. Tues-
day at the home of Mrs. Jack
Epps, 19271 Strathcona. A
luncheonette will be served pre-
ceding the meeting.
Mrs. Albert Feurring and
Mrs. Abraham Kutlov, vice-pres-
idents of University East and
Sherwood, respectively, will pre-
sent Dr. Lee Shulman, psycholo-
gist, on "Rational Living in An
Irrational World."
A musical program will be
given by Hadassah's singing,
"Half - Notes." Luncheon ar-
rangements are under the direc-
tion of Mrs. Paul Cavaler of
Sherwood and Mesdames Irwin
Green, Hyman Silverman and
Louis Schostak. Mrs. Nathan
Kapetansky and Mrs. Samuel
Benavie are University East's
chairmen with Mesdames Ern-
est Golumbia, Soma Kurtis, Her-
man Kass, Arthur Cohn and
Elmer P. Ellias, co-chairmen.
Presidents Mrs. Ben Bonin and
Mrs. Samuel Frankel will pre-
side.

FER GROUPS will meet jointly
12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hadassah
House. A dessert luncheon will
be served under the supervision
of Mrs. Oscar Overton and her
social committee, including Mes-
dames Leo Schlefstein, David
Cohen, Sarah Brand and Louis
Markowitz. T h e Greenfield
Group will present a cast of
its members in an original pro-
duction, "An Afternoon at the
Yiddish Theater." Mrs. Samuel
Goldfarb and Mrs. Jerry Gold-
man, presidents of Greenfield
and Schaefer Groups, respect-
ively, extend an invitation to
friends.

will meet 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at
the Jewish Center in Room 202.
Abraham Citron will review and
discuss "Tale of Ten Cities" by
Eugene I. Lipman and Eugene
Vorspan. Mrs. Nathan Goldman
and Mrs. Maurice Perlman, pro-
gram vice-presidents, are in
charge of the program, assisted
by Mrs. Sol Slomovitz, advisor.
A dessert luncheon will be
served preceding the meeting,
under the chairmanship of Mrs.
William Gillman, assisted by
Mrs. Max Glass, Mrs. S. Feld-
man and Mrs. Leo Gruenbaum.

Fair 10 a.m. Dec. 18 at the Jew-
ish Center. The public is in-

Hall, will bring a jazz band to
Detroit Town Hall Wednesday.

wed to Barry Goodman in a cere-
mony performed by Rabbi Mil-
ton Arm and Cantor Hyman Ad-
ler Nov. 4 at the Raleigh House.
Parents of the newlyweds are
Mr. and Mrs. David Diamond and
Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Goodman.
The bride wore a gown of
ivory peau de soie with a fitted
bodice of embroidered seed
pearls and hanging crystals. The
skirt fell into a chapel train. Her
fingertip silk illusion veil was
held by a crown of seed pearls
and crystals.
Diane Mostyn, sister of the
bride, was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Eleanor Folbe,
Sandra Rabinowitz, Marilyn Ru-
bin and Jo Anne Shook.
Seymour Goodman served his
brother as best man. Ushers
were Morey Bednarsh, Seymour

State Univer-

The pro-

lecture room

clinical conference. The main
lecture of the day will be given
by Dr. McHardy at 11 a.m. on
"Medical Aspects of Esophageal
Hiatus Hernia."
In addition to his university
position, Dr. McHardy is presi-
dent of the American Gastroen-
terology Association. He serves
on the staff of both Charity
Hospital and Touro Infirmary
in New Orleans.

PISGAH CHAPTER will hold
a paid-up membership Hanukah
party and dessert luncheon noon
Wednesday at the Jewish Cen-
ter, announces Mrs. Harry Thav,
president. The Jewish Center
Golden Age Choir, under the
direction of Cantor Nicholas
Fenakel, will present "Bridge
of Life," a cantata narrated by
Alfred H. Bounin. Yiddish songs
will be sung by Mrs. Nancy
Klein, accompanied by Bella
Goldberg. A Hanukah gift will
be presented to each member.
