Plans 32nd Animal Donor and Tea in Institute Founders Concert A three-month fund-raising campaign by Detroit Council of Pioneer Women will be cli- maxed at its annual donor and tea, noon Dec. 1 2 at Temple Israel, it was an- nounced by Mrs. Richard B. Kramer, program chair- man. Highlighting the 32nd an- Mrs. Kramer nual donor will be I. L. Kenen. editor of the Near East Report and exectuive director of the American Israeli Affairs Com- mittee. Kenen, who was a member of Israel's first delegation to the United Nations and who for many years has dedicated his efforts to promote American friendship for Israel, has just returned from an extensive tour of the Middle East and Israel. His subject will deal with his observations in that part of the world and its relationship to Israel. Sharing the program with Kenen will be Mort Freeman, popular baritone and star of radio and television. Particu- larly noted for his interpreta- tion of folk songs of his people, Freeman will render a program of Israeli, light operatic and Romney Affirms His Belief in `Separation' An inquiry made by Jules D'Oneson of the George Rom- neys regarding purported ru- mors that they were -opposed to the U. S. Supreme Court de- cision outlawing the reading of prayers in public schools brought the following • state- ment from Governor - Elect George Romney: "Thank you for your recent letter relating to my position on recitation of prayers in pub- lic schools. "I have made my position clear in the past, and it is es- sentially this. I have never argued with the Supreme Court decision in the New York case. I would not be in favor of any attempt in Michigan to inter- fere with the decision. "I understand you have al- ready talked with .Mrs. Romney and I trust she has set to rest any suspicions you might have about her remarks, which have been distorted for obvious po- litical reasons." In an appended • note to his letter initialed G. R., the Gover- nor-Elect stated: • believe in separation of Church. and State." • Romney's letter was post- marked 'Nov. 1. • Doneson had communicated with him on Oct: 4, inquiring as to the veracity of reports that Mr. and .
