THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS — Fr iday, Novem ber 16, 1 962 —

We are privileged once again to welcome to our
community Israel's distinguished statesman, His Excel-
lency Abba Eban, Minister of Education of the State
of Israel.

Early in his career Abba Eban dedicated himself
to the ideal of redeeming Eretz Israel and of creating a
Jewish National Home for the millions of oppressed Jews
throughout the world.

Now one of Israel's outstanding statesmen and
public figures, Minister Eban has been a key personality
in the leadership of the State of Israel since its establish-
ment. He achieved world-wide prominence even before
the birth of Israel when he served as a representative
of the Jewish community of Palestine before the United
Nations committees which deliberated the Palestine
problem. He collaborated in the preparation of the Jew-
ish case before the General Assembly and the Security
Council and personally presented a part of the Jewish
plea which resulted in the U.N. vote for a Jewish state.
