Grosbergs to Head Eban Reception;'
Israel Bond Leaders Plan Tribute

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gros-
berg will head the reception
committee for Abba Eban, Is-
rael Minister of Education, Nov.
26 when Eban will be guest
of honor at a tribute dinner in
Cobo Hall.
The. Grosbergs will greet
Eban on his arrival at the
airport and will escort him to
the dinner. -Grosberg is chair-
man of Trustees of Israel.
Rabbi Jacob 'E. Segal, spir-
itual leader of Adas Shalom
Synagogue, will introduce Eban
at the dinner, it was announced
by Tom Borman, general chair-
man of the Detroit Israel Bond
Committee which is sponsoring
the affair, the highlight of the
1962 Israel Bond campaign.
This will be Eban's first
return visit to Detroit since
he left Washington in 1959
to join Prime Minister David
Ben-Gurion's cabinet. Eban
served as Israel's Ambassador
to the United States for nine
years and as head of Israel's
permanent delegation to the
United Nations for 11 years,
where he earned recognition
as "The Voice of Israel."
Eban took a major part in the
launching of the first Israel
Bond issue in May of 1951.
Eban, who is also president of
the Weizmann Institute of Sci-
ence at Rehovoth, is arriving
in the United States this week
for a tour of major cities on
behalf of the Israel Bond drive.
His participation is expected to
have a decisive effect on the re-
sults of the campaign.
A special souvenir folio con-
taining' the names of all those
who purchase Israel Bonds in
honor of Abba Eban will be pre-
sented to the Israeli statesman
as a memento of his visit here
on Nov. 26.

observed.

Ladies Garment Union
to Establish Histadrut
Youth Center in Israel

NEW YORK, (JTA) — The
International Ladies' Garment
Workers Union announced a
$100,000 contribution for the
construction of a Histadrut
Youth Center in Israel, to be
named after the late Isadore
Nagler, a vice-president of the
union and former manager of
its Cloak Joint Board.
Following the announcement,
President David Dubinsky pres-
ented the first payment, of
$50,000, to Isaiah Avrech, repre-
sentative of the Histadrut
executive council in the United
States.

JERUSALEM — A grant of
$166,666 was announced here
Tuesday from the U.S. Health
Institute in Bethesda, Md., for
a survey of hypertension and
coronary diseases.
The project will be carried
out over a 16-month period on
a group of 10,000 civil servants
and municipal workers in Is-
rael. It will be directed by
Israeli physicians and two
American doctors, Thomas Dub-
lin and Jack Medalie, both of
Bethesda.
