Division, Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion, All-Day Institute Nov. 28
at the Jewish Center, 18100
Meyers, announces Mrs. Philip
R. Marcuse, Women's Division
president.
Chairman is Mrs. Lewis B.
Daniels and Mrs. David J.
Schachter and Mrs. Ivor J. Kahn
are co-chairmen.
Mrs. Daniels reports that the
institute will discuss migrations
of Jews in the last half century
--how these migrations effected
the development of our com-
munity and how they have
shaped our paz terns of social
service.
Guest speaker at the Insti-
tute will be James P. Rice,
director of the United HIAS
Service who supervises immi-
grant aide in 40 countries.
Rice, now in Europe, will come
to the institute direct from
conferences of United States
and South American officials
of the Alliance for Progress,
in Washington, D.C.
Garold Silver, director of the
Jewish Family and Children's
Service and the Resettlement
Service, and Albert Elazer,
superintendent of the United
Hebrew Schools, will discuss the
force of immigration in shaping
our community.
Mrs. Daniels said the annual
institute of the Women's Divi-
sion gives women who are con-
tributors and- workers in the
Federation's Allied Jewish Cam-
paign a chance to discuss some
phase of the work they support.
The institute is an all-day
seminar designed to present a
complete picture of an entire
area of service. This year the
area is immigration.

Chagall for the synagogue of
the Hadassah - Hebrew Univer-
sity Medical Center in Jerusa-
lem will be shown at an Oneg
Shabbat of the South Oakland
Chapter of Hadassah 12:30 p.m.
Nov. 17 at the home of Mrs.
Hoffenbloom, 25166 Southwood,
Southfield.
Featured will be songs by
Arrella Barley, an Israeli folk-
singer, who has returned to De-
troit from a summer in Israel.
Dessert luncheon will be served.
Cong. Beth Abraham will
hold an open house 9:45 a.m.
Sunday to acquaint parents with
the curriculum and teachers
of the Religious School, an-
nounced Frank Leiderman, edu-
cation director.
Also, the Sabbath Service
Club, for children 7-12, will
leave Sunday on a mystery trip
for its first outing of the season,
according to Moshe Grossbard,
leader of the group.
