Bnai Brith Women's "Dolls for Democracy" program is
another of the organization's activities by which youngsters
are made conscious of their heritage and the responsibilities
and freedoms of their citizenship. Recently, Mrs. Max Stryer,
Dolls for Democracy chairman, entertained neighborhood chil-
dren in Southfield with a presentation of the program. Above,

Weizmartn's Mark on History Cited at Memorial

LONDON—Sir Simon Marks,
president of the Joint Palestine
Appeal, declared Monday night
at a memorial gathering on the
10th anniversary of the death
of Dr. Chaim Weizmann that
Israel should not forget the
Zionists "who made their con-
tribution" without settling in
Israel.
"It's a little hard to hear

Gurion that you are not a Zion-

Isidore Sobeloff
to Advise Miami's
Federation on Plans

Isidore Sobeloff, executive
vice-president of the Jewish
Welfare Federation of Detroit,
has accepted an invitation to
serve as consultant to the Great-
er Miami Jewish T'ederation
which has embarked on an
extensive long - range planning
program.
Sobeloff has already met with
the Federation's Long - Range
Planning Committee to discuss
procedures.
The Jewish community of Mi-
ami is one of the most rapidly
growing communities in the
country and the Federation must
consequently anticipate a mount-
ing demand in the years ahead
for the services provided by its
agencies. It has, therefOre, set
up a long-range planning group
to study requirements for serv-
ices and facilities over the next
10-15 years and to plan expan-
sion and development of its
agencies to meet these needs.
In outlining the problem and
the plans of the Greater Miami
Jewish Federation to meet it,
Arthur S. Rosichan, executive
director, expressed satisfaction
that Sobeloff had agreed to serve
as the Federation's consultant
and that the Federation would
have the advantage of his "wide
experience in planning and di-
recting community operations
and his . vast knowledge of
American Jewish community
organization."

Israel," Lord Marks told the
gathering of Zionist veterans
and associates of the first pres-
ident of Israel.
"Maybe he is right, but we
ought to cherish the partner-
ship between Israel and the
Diaspora and not forget those
who have made their contribu-
tion from the outside." The
meeting opened a month-long
observance of the anniversary.
Ambassador" Arthur Lourie
said that Weizmann had been
the "peerless spokesman" of
the Jewish people for a whole
generation. He added that there
were "three decisive moments"
in the struggle for Israel—the
Balfour Declaration, the report
of the Peel Commission and the
U.S. decision to support the in-
clusion of the Negev in the
Israel State-to-be and that
Weizmann "intervened decisive-
ly and put his mark upon
Jewish history" in each.
Sir Barnett Janner, chairman
of the Board of Deputies of
British Jews said Weizritann's
leadership and example re
mained "unforgettable" to all
who had worked under him.
Joseph Linton, who had been. a
political aide to Weizmann in
London, said that Weizmann
was at all times a leader and

guide and that "he laid the
foundations."
Dr. S. Levenburg, Jewish
Agency representative in Lon-
don, said that "Theodor Herzl,
Weizmann and Ben-Gurion
were the three persons who be-
tween them established the
State of Israel, each making
his contribution in his own
inimitable way. Weizmann's
message remains valid and his
testament should be transmit-
ted to the young generations
who will take over from us the
Zionist work."
