Beth Yehudah Dinner
Committee Will Hold
Luncheon Meeting

A luncheon meeting of the
Beth Yehudah Dinner Commit-
tee will be held Wednesday at
Rainbow Catering to hear re-
ports on the progress of prepa-
rations for the annual event
which will take place Nov. 11
at Cobo Hall.
In announcing the report
meeting, Leon Jay Simon, din-
ner chairman, stressed that the
Beth Yehudah dinner promises
to be a particularly unforget-
table occasion with the appear-
ance of Rabbi Hershel Schach-
ter.
Rabbi Schachter will give his
eyewitness account of Jewish
life and problems in Russia
and Israel.
Max Biber, chairman of the
executive of the Beth Yehudah
Schools, who also serves as gen-
eral chairman of the annual
event, said:
"The school has served De-
troit Jewry for over 40 years
and is not about to relocate in
the new area of Jewish concen-
tration; this is the time to
show tangibly our appreciation
of the splendid service rendered
up to now and our interest in
its future.
In endorsing these senti-
ments, Rabbi Leizer Levin,
chairman of the Beth Yehudah
School's Board of Education,
declared that "unfortunately
too few Detroiters know that
Beth Yehudah is nationally rec-:
ognized as one of the leading
institutions of Jewish learning."
For reservations to the din-
ner, call Leon Jay Simon (JE
6-0240) or the Beth Yehudah
office (WE 1-0203).

The growth in station wagon
popularity is shown by the fact
that at present 15 per cent of
automobile output is made up
of such units. In 1955, wagons
were six per cent of total pro-
duction, and in 1940, less than
one per cent.
