NEW YORK (JTA) — The
Anti-Defamation League of Bnai
Brith called this week on the De-
partment of Justice to investi-
gate' the Merchants Club of New
York, charging that the club's
"policy of anti-Jewish discrimin-
ation" amounts to violation of
federal anti-trust laws.
In a message to Attorney Gen-
eral Robert F. Kennedy, Arnold
Forster, the ADL general coun-
sel, declared that the Merchant's
Club "has never been known in
its 90 years of existence to ac-
cept Jews."
Since a .United States Court
of Claims has found that the
Club "is the quasi-official center
and headquarters of the selling
end of the cotton textile indus-
try," Forster said, its policy of
barring Jews is "thus a combina-
tion or conspiracy in restraint of
interstate trade and commerce,
and in violation of the Sherman
Anti-Trust Act."
5,000 Jews Left in Greece
