Maze! Toy Goes
to Miss America

SA- NDUSKY, Ohio, (JTA)
—Miss America of 1963,
Jacquelyn Jeanne Mayer, ap-
pears to be entitled at least
partly to a Mazel Tov. Her
father is Jewish.
Jack Mayer was raised in
the Jewish faith but, he says,
he isn't particularly re-
ligious. The beauty queen's
mother is a Presbyterian.
Her Jewishness is by associa-
tion; and she sings in the
choir of the Ohab Shalom
Temple, a Reform congrega-
tion and the only Jewish
house of worship in San-
dusky.
In such a home, a spirit
of accommodation is the pat-
tern. Says Mrs. Mayer: "Jack
has a deep faith of his own.
He attends the big events at
my church at Easter and
Christmas and I reverse the
compliment and sing at the
Temple on High Holy Days."

T h e fully air conditioned
cruise liner Jerusalem of the
Zim Lines will make a series
of ten cruises from Miami to
the West Indies between Nov. 4
and Jan. 26, it was announced
by the American-Israeli Ship-
ping Co., Inc., of 42 Broadway,
New York, U.S. representatives
of the Zim Lines. The ship will
visit a total of nine ports in the
Caribbean area.
The cruises will be mainly of
short duration, ranging from
two-and-a-half days to eight days
with calls at one to four ports.
The Jerusalem's 13-day Christ-
mas-New Year cruise however
will visit seven Caribbean ports
including the Panama Canal
Zone. In addition, the liner will
make a 13-day cruise from New
York to the Caribbean Feb. 5.
The newly announced cruise
program is the biggest ever
undertaken by the five-year-old
liner since she entered the Ca-
ribbean cruise trade in 1958. It
replaces a 60-day cruise to the
Mediterranean and Israel orig-
inally scheduled to depart from
Miami on Nov. 28. This cruise
was withdrawn, the American-
Israeli Shipping Co. stated, in
view of a heavy demand for
cruise space to the Caribbean.
The S/S Jerusalem will be the
largest cruise liner sailing from
the port of Miami this winter.

JERUSALEM—Sources close
to President Ben-Zvi denied
Wednesday reports that he had
not yet agreed to run for a
third term and that his Mapai
party was consequently consid-
ering an alternative candidate.
These sources said that Pre-
mier Ben-Gurion, Finance Min-
ister Levi Eshkol and other
Mapai leaders had approached
Ben-Zvi and asked him on be-
half of the party to accept nom-
ination. The President agreed
and is therefore the only candi-
date of Mapai.
