between Montefiore Hospital and
the Hospital Service Association.
The latter is the so-called Blue
Cross plan for Western Penn-
sylvania.
Persons who had been in-
patients at the hospital receive
these new benefits if they are
given home care, under this new
program, immediately following
their stay at Montefiore. Four
days of home care is counted
as one day of hospital care.
One of the purposes of the new
program is to shorten hospital
stays, thus providing more room
for other patients awaiting hos-
pitalization. The plan provides,
according to Mrs. Celia Moss,
director of the hospital's home
care department, "optimum care
for a patient in the most favor-
able possible conditions, sur-
rounded by his family in the
warmth and comf or t of his
home." •
In addition to providing Blue
Cross benefits to -home patients,
Montefiore Hospital also gives
nursing services to all patients
under this program, under an
agreement with the Allegheny
County Visiting Nurse Associa-
tion.
Montefiore Hospital's home
