The late Mr. Joffe was the executive director of the Jewish Community Council. He exerted great influence in the community in effeCting good will among all religious and racial groups and in the battle against race pre- judice. The Boris H. Joffe Elemen- tary School will give relief to the present MacCulloch, accord- ing to the Board of Education .announcement. I t s proposed site is bounded by Kendall, Dex- ter, Ewald Circle and Holmur Streets. The board proposed to acquire this site within a short time. In the Board of Education announcement about the honor accorded to Joffe's name, his record of service is evaluated as follows: "Mr. Boris M. He assisted in scores of under- takings both in terms of civic, religious, and community serv- ices during his ten years with this organization. Mr. Joffe was instrumental in the enactment of the Michigan Fair Employ- ment Practices Law and worked unceasingly to better human relations. He served as a mem- ber of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Detroit School Needs and the Citizens Advis- ory Committee on Equal Edu- cational Opportunities. He is remembered by hundreds of immigrants as the man who worked in Washington, D.C., for the liberalization of the Immi- grant Laws which restricted the movement of the peoples of Southern Europe to this coun- try.
