FELLOW A LITTLE the
worse for wear—and alcoholic
beverage—stumbled into Chuck
Berman's taxi and ordered,
"Take me over to Washington
Blvd. and Bagley" . . . Chuck
informed him that he already
was at the streets named . . .
and the inebriated gent replied,
"Splendid! Just splendid! But
next time don't drive so fast!"
THE SCHOOL BUS was wait-
ing outside and three-year-old
Ricky Gilbert, son of Beverly
and Sheldon Gilbert, watched
out the window of their home
as the children embarked for
their day of knowledge . . .
When Beverly started to leave
at about the same time to reg-
ister at the Wayne U. School
of Art Education, little Ricky
called out, "Mommy! You forgot
your lunch pail!"
NOW THAT Irving Pelavin,
Greenfield Pharmacy bossman,
has made the choir at Cong.
Bnai Moshe, don't be surprised
if he talks in lower tones . . .
Irv's singing ambitions have
finally come true at age 51—
even though he was selected as
a baritone!
HIS NAME IS MEYER, but
everybody knows him as just
plain Buddy . . That's Buddy
Sherbow, new headman at Men-
jou's West, who is really making
things perk up at the Six-Mile
Rd. spot . . .
KIDDIE KOMPLIMENT . .
by little six-year-old Robert
Stone, son of Earl and Maya
Stone . . . Watching mother try
on a new dress, Bobby ex-
claimed, "You sure are beauti-
ful. You look just like Abraham
Lincoln!"
NELLIE STEINGOLD has
her favorite about the nice
young couple, anxious to get on
in the world, who were enter-
taining the boss and his wife at
dinner . . . They were doing
pretty well, too, until their 10-
year-old burst into view .. . He
cased the boss' wife with ob-
vious interest, then asked his
dad, "Does she really wrestle
on TV?"
SAM AND LIL DICTOR, for-
mer Detroiters, "snuk" into
town from California for a short
visit with relatives and as many
friends as possible . . . Sam
always feels bad about coming
to the hometown because folks
get mad at him for not looking
them up . . Fact is, he'd like
nothing better, but time always
runs out . . . Even if there was
time though, it's doubtful if the
very popular Sam could see 'em
all! . . . Now that he is retired,
the Dictors will have more mo-
ments to spend without having
to hurry and scurry to get back
... And who knows, Sam might
even rent Cobo Hall!
