Bardot Seeks
to Be Jewess
for Sweetheart

PARIS, (JTA) — A Paris
daily reported .this week that
Brigitte Bardot, the French
actress, plans to convert to
Judaism.
The daily, Aurore, said that
the actress planned to get a
divorce from Jacques Char-
rier and to marry Sam Frey
a Jewish actor. She wants to
follow the example of the
late Marilyn Monroe and
Elizabeth Taylor to prove her
love to Frey but the rabbini-
cal authorities in Paris are
dubious about the prospect-
ive convert. However, the
daily said, she had not given
up her plans and was study-
ing Jewish religious lore
with surprising diligence.

eighths, then slice them thin.
Combine with the remaining
ingredients.
Place this filling in a long
roll about 2 inches inside one
end of the dough and the full
length of the dough. Fold the
2 inches of dough over the fill-
ing. Now lift that end of the
tablecloth slightly and the
dough will roll over the filling.
Keep lifting the cloth gently
until the entire dough has been
rolled up. Some cooks like to
spread the filling over 343 of
the dough, but with juicy fill-
ings such as apple it is better
to have all of it in the center.
After the dough is rolled, cut
into pieces just a little shorter
than your baking pans. Grease
the pans well, and carefully
place the rolls on them with
the cut edge underneath. Brush
the tops with more oil. Bake at
375 degs. F. about 45 minutes,
until well browned. Half-way
through the baking, brush again
with oil. Cut into pieces when
cold. This recipe makes 16
generous pieces.

During the past year several
requests have been received for
directions for making strudel,
the "real" kind, with the dough
stretched as thin as tissue

tional holiday delicacy, this _is
an ideal time for learning to
prepare it. Making the dough

which can be mastered. Perhaps

tience. That, combined with a
gentle touch and practice, can
create a strudel dough of which
any cook may well be proud.
Expert strudel makers have
slightly different methods of
working which they find help-
ful. These will be suggested
in their proper place.
To prepare the dough you will
require:
2 cups sifted all-purpose
flour

1/16 teaspoon salt.
