today announced it has author-
ized its missions in Iran and
Hong Kong to utilize stockpiles
of food and blanket packages t o
help the survivors of the disas-
trous earthquake in Iran and
flood victims in Hong Kong.

ANTS DELEGATION to the
Eighth International Congress
will be honored at a luncheon
to be given by the National Ac-
countants Committee of the
American Friends of the Hebrew
University Sept. 25 at the Wal-
dorf-Astoria Hotel in New York.

Center Cinema Forum
Opens Fall Series

The Center Cinema Forum of
the Jewish Center, 18100 Mey-
ers, will have the grand open-
ing program of the fall series
8 p.m. Sunday in the Aaron
DeRoy Theater.
The film will he "Operation
Abolition and Operation Cor-
rection," the original version of
America's most famous and con-
troversial film, produced for the
House Committee on Un-Ameri-
can Activities, plus the famous
"answer," produced by the
American Civil Liberties Union,
utilizing the same footage with
an entirely different narration.
There will be a discussion pe-
riod after the film.

to Lt. Richard Alan Silverman
in a ceremony performed Sept.
4 by Rabbi Richard C. Hertz and
Rabbi Morris Adler at the home
of the bride's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Boris Gaynes, 4704 W.
Outer Dr.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Silverman,
19022 Wildemere.
Robert Appel was best man.
Maids of honor were Jill Gaynes,
sister of the bride, and Carol
Silverman, sister of the bride-
groom. Flower girl was Mindy
Jo Gaynes, sister of the bride.
The bride wore a street-length
dress of cream lace with a short
jacket and had a head-piece made
of matching lace, a pill box and
a full veil.
A wedding dinner was served
tafter the- ceremony. The newly-
weds planned a wedding trip to
London, England. They will live
in Friedberg, Germany.

Detroit Section, National
Council of Jewish Women, will
open its fall season with a fash-
ion show membership affair
12:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at the home
of Mrs. Julian Frank, 1540 Bal-
moral.
Hors d'oeuvres and burgundy
will be served at an informal
get-acquainted session prior to
the program. Ticket of admis-
sion is a new member.
The current member who en-
lists the most new members will
be awarded an expense-paid
trip to the organization's bien-
nial convention in March in
Minneapolis.

Cancer Fighters Will
Hold Awards Tea

The Oak Park Branch of the
American Cancer Society • is
sponsoring an Awards Tea 1-3
p.m. Sept. 18 at the Auditorium
of Northland Center.
The Tea will honor 345 cru-
saders, 29 area captains and dis-
trict chairmen. These volun-
teers, carrying on a door-to-door
campaign last April, raised
$5,022.
