Sabbath Calls Please)

At the invitation of Dr. Louis
Finkelstein, chancellor of the
Jewish Theological Seminary,
Rabbi Jacob E. Segal, spiritual
leader of Adas Shalom Syna-
gogue, has written a paper on
Moral Implications of the Rab-
binate."
The paper was read by Rabbi
Segal at the Lehman Institute
Conference on Ethics, which
convened at the Seminary in
New York earlier this week.
The two-day Ethics Confer-
ence. attended by over 200 rab-
bis, 'devoted its sessions to dis-
cussing papers written by
Rabbi Segal and a dozen of his
colleagues appointed by the
Seminary for this assignment
from various parts of the coun-
try.
Among those who addressed
the conference sessions were
Dr. Louis Finkelstein, Rabbis
Max Trzt and Simon Greenberg,
vice-chancellors of the Semi-
nary, Dr. Robert Gordis and
and Rabbi Bernard Mandel-
baum.
The Ethics institute, endowed
by Senator Herbert H. Lehman,
has been established to explore
through scholarship the ethical
insights of the Jewish faith,
with the aim of bringing those
insights to bear more relatively
on contemporary American-
Jewish life.
