OSLO—Prime Minister David
Ben-Gurion, arriving here for
his second stop on a five-nation
Scandinavian tour, met for 90
minutes Tuesday with Premier
Einar Gerhardsen.
The first meeting of the. two
Prime Ministers, which was at-
tended by Norwegian and Isra-
eli advisers, was reported to
have been very friendly.
Andreas Anderson, director
in Premier Gerhardsen's office
who took part in the meeting,
told newsmen that Ben-Gurion
called to Premier Gerhardsen's
attention Israel's proposal for
direct peace talks with the Arab
countries. The Israeli visitors
also reported on Israel's eco-
nomic situation.
There was no information on
whether Premier Gerhardsen
had promised Ben-Gurion any-
thing about Norway's position
at the United Nations when the
annual vote comes up on the
Arab refugee problem. Like
Premier Erlander of Sweden,
the Norwegian leader promised
to consider Israel's point of view
at the Scandinavia Foreign
Ministers Meeting scheduled for
Sept. 13 in Helsinki.
After the meeting with the
Norwegian Premier, Ben-Gu-
rion was received for 30 min-
utes by King Olav V. The
59 - year - old King received
Ben-Gurion at the palace.
Ben - Gurion presented the
King with a silver dish made
by a Jerusalem artist. The
Prime Minister and the King
chatted informally about the
Hebrew language, immigra-
tion to Israel and some of
Israel's problems.
The Prime Minister comment-
ed later that the King had a
good knowledge of Israel's prob-
lems. After a brief visit to Oslo's
Norwegian Folkemuseum, the
Israeli visitors had lunch with
Premier Gerhardsen.
Ben-Gurion met for two hours
Wednesday wit h Norwegian
Foreign Minister Halyard Lange
for talks which the NorWegian
official .called "exchanges of
views but not negotiations." He
added the talks were "most use-
ful for the Norwegian side."
The talks took place during
the second day of Ben-Gurion's

"with the greatest interest to

The two leaders were accom-
