A former Detroit merchant
who was a president of Rus-
sek's, Inc., and associated with
the I. Miller Shoe Company in
the east, Maurice A. Mittel-
man died July 20 in Coral
Gables, Fla. He was 71. His last
home was at Golden Beach,
Fla. Interment was in Scranton,
Pa.
Born in Hungary, Mr. Mittel-
man had lived in Detroit and in
Cleveland. He was a past pres-
ident of the National Shoe Re-
tailers Association and was a
Mason.
Surviving are his wife, Carmyl
of Golden Beach; a sister and a
brother in Pennsylvania.

Friends of Musicologist
Create Memorial Scholarship
A memorial scholarship
named for the late Erwin
Bodky, internationally known
musicologist, has been created
at Brandeis University by his
friends and associates.
The Erwin Bodky Memorial
Scholarship Fund will provide
tuition assistance for worthy
and deserving music students
at the Waltham, Mass., univer-
sity, where Prof. Bodky taught
from 1949 until his death in
1958.
