Hebrew which are different
from each other--Le. the Ash-
kenazic and the Sephardic?

Many authorities of late claim
that the difference between the
two lies in their different geo-
graphic places of origin. The so-
called Ashkenazic pronuncia-
tion is said to have stemmed
from Palestine, being the pro-
nunciation which was in vogue
when the Masories established
the pronunciation formula.
From there is was carried over
to Germany and Eastern Eu-
rope. They claim that the so-
called Sephardic pronunciation
was originated in Babylon, al-
though it has been demon-
strated that this was the pro-
nunciation in Palestine during
the second commonwealth, by
virtue of transliterations found
in such works as the Septua-
ginta. From Babylon it was car-
ried over into Spain.
