NEW YORK—Salomo Rosow-
sky, a prominent Jewish com-
poser and musicologist, died
here Tuesday at the age of 84.
He was a lecturer in music of
the Bible at the Jewish Theo-
logical Seminary of America
since 1953.

Born in Riga, Latvia, Rosow-
sky attended the leading musical
conservatories in Russia and
was musical director of the
Jewish Art Theater in St.
Petersburg and later director of
the Jewish Conservatory of Mu-
sik in Riga until 1925. A resi-
dent of Palestine for many
years years, Rosowsky was the
recipient of the Municipality of
Tel Aviv Award for Music in
1946.
