MRS. ERNEST WEINER

Barbara Judith Miro became
the bride of Ernest Jay Weiner
in a ceremony July 2 at the
Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel. Rabbi
Morris Adler officiated.
Parents of the newlyweds are
Mr. and Mrs. David Miro of
Strathcona Dr. and Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Weiner of Ludlow Ave.,
Huntington Woods.
The bride wore a gown of
Alencon lace with a jewel neck-
line, short sleeves and a bell
skirt. Her chapel train of silk
organza was complemented by
a mantilla of matching Alencon
lace.
Phyllis Berman was maid of
honor. Kathy Canvasser was
junior bridesmaid and Susan
Sofferin and Susan Castleman
were bridesmaids.
William Lichtig was best
man. Ushers were Jeffrey Miro,
Gary Tabach, Neil Rosen and
Lawrence Warren.
The newlyweds will honey-
moon in Jamaica and Puerto
Rico.

of American Legion

Detroit Concert Band
Will Perform Nightly;
Free Entertainment

The Detroit Federation of
Musicians Concert Band, under
the direction of Herschel Leib,
will present a series of pro-
grams throughout the city again
this week.
William De Maria is featured
baritone soloist. The free con-
certs are presented by the De-
partment of Parks and Recrea-
tion, City of Detroit; Music Per-
forinance Trust Funds of the
Recording Industries and the
Detroit Federation of Musi-
cians.
The schedule for the week
follows.
Monday, July 16 — O'Shea
Center, Capitol and Greenfield.
Tuesday, July 17 — Stoepel
Park, Outer Drive and Ever-
green.
Wednesday, July 18—Patton
Park, Woodmere and Vernor.

The new Commander of the
American Legion, Detroit Dis-
tricts Association, consisting of
88 posts in the Detroit area, is
Norman N. Robbins, 42-year-old
Detroit attorney, who resides
at 18622 Oak Drive, with his
wife, Elaine, and two daughters,
Susan and Aimee.
Commander Robbins has
served the American Legion, lo-
cally and on the state level, in
many capacities during the past
few years, including that of
Judge Advocate and chairman
of the Legion youth baseball
program. He has been active in
civic affairs, having been chair-
man of the Detroit Bar Associa-
tion Friend of the Court com-
mittee for many years, and its
family law committee.
Robbins was unanimously
elected commander at the Dis-
tricts meeting held July 2, and
in his acceptance speech
promised a full year of dedi-
cated effort in behalf of service
to the community, and with
particular stress on the Ameri-
can Legion youth programs and
rehabilitation work.
The new commander is a
member of Temple Israel, Per-
fection Masonic Lodge 468 and
the Moslem Shrine Temple.
