Mrs. M. Beinenfield Hart of Rutherford Ave. has departed
for New York, where she will visit her grandchildren, Mr. and
Mrs. E. Morines of Inwood, Long Island, and her new great-
grandson.
Mrs. Shirley Sorscher of Oak Park recently entertained at an
open house in honor of the graduations of her son, Irving, who
received his B.A. degree, and her daughter, Mrs. Irwin (Barbara)
Alpern, who received her M.A. degree.
Joan Lindenbaum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sol Lindenbaum
(Dorothy Wolk), has graduated from Fairfax High School in
Fairfax, Va. She was given two awards. One was for the "Out-
standing Journalist" and the other was the "4 Square Award,"
given to the girl with the most outstanding qualities in character
and leadership. Joan will attend University of Wisconsin in
September.
The Sam Rosners, formerly of Oak Park, have moved into
their new home at 1953 Beacon, Beacon Hills, Chicago Heights,
Ill.
Cantor Morris Kaminsky of Beth Moses Synagogue last week
was reunited with his brother, Charles of Paris, France, after a
50-year separation. Cantor Kaminsky, 18461 Steel, had not seen
his brother since he left his native Poland in 1912. Charles later
fled the Nazi occupation of Poland and was discovered living in
a village near Paris by Morris' son, Al, when the latter was serv-
ing with the Seventh Air Force stationed in Paris during the war.
Charles and his wife are staying at his brother's home on Steel
Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Diskin have departed for a two-month
trip to Europe and Israel. Diskin, son of Mr. and Mrs. William
Diskin, 17141 Ohio, is completing work for his Ph.D. in radio and
television at the University of Michigan. While in Israel, the
Diskins will visit his psychologist brother, Dr. Phil Diskin, c/o
Anglo Saxon Hostel, Rassco No. 330, Jerusalem.
Cantor and Mrs. Anton Rosenfeld, 21970 Kipling, Oak Park,
have returned from a four-week stay in Europe and Israel. They
were delegates to the American Jewish Congress convention in
Jerusalem.
Mrs. Isadore Leeman, of 18081 Whitcomb, newly-elected
president of the Michigan Branch of the National Women's
League of the United Synagogue of America, has returned from
a four-day branch presidents' conference of the League held at
the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. Mrs. Leeman
is a past president of the Sisterhood of Congregation Ahavas
Achim.
Mr. and Mrs. Miles Mazer entertained the Charlip Family
Club with an Hawaiian beach party at their summer home in
Fenton.
The Bar Mitzvahs of Ben Feigenson, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Philip Feigenson, and Robert Kaufman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Kaufman, were observed at Sabbath services June 23 at
Adas Shalom Synagogue.
Mrs. Isadore Leeman, newly-elected president of the Michi-
gan Branch of National Women's League of the United Syna-
gogue of America, participated in the 1962 national conference
of key Conservative sisterhood leader, held in New York City,
June 17-21.

Ribicoff, Warburg, Stone Feted
by United Jewish Appeal in N.Y.

NEW YORK, (JTA) — Secre-
tary of Health Education and
Welfare Abraham A. Ribicoff
was honored for his efforts in
connection with the resettle-
ment of refugees seeking haven
in the United States and other
lands of freedom at a testi-
monial dinner at the Hotel
Pierre for the benefit of the
current campangn of the United
Jewish Appeal of Greater New
York.
In addition to honoring Secre-
tary Ribicoff, the dinner was also
the occasion for a tribute to two
outstanding leaders in philan-
thropy — Edward M. M. Warburg
now honorary chairman. and for-
merly general chairman, of the
nationwide United Jewish Ap-
peal, and Dewey D. Stone, a UJA
national chairman.
The more than 300 guests at
the dinner announced contribu-
tions amounting to more than
$750,000 toward this year's gen-
eral UJA campaign, and to the
Opportunity Fund which UJA
established to meet an increase
in the needs of its beneficiary
agencies arising from an upsurge
in migration of Jews to Israel,
the United States .and other
democratic countries.
Presiding at the dinner was
Murray I. Gurfein, leading New
York attorney. The evening's
speakers included Monroe Gold-
water, president of the United
Jewish Appeal of Greater New
York; Edwin Rosenberg, chair-
man of New York UJA's execu-
tive committee, and Jack D.
Weiler, a chairman of New York
UJA's trustees.
Secretary Ribicoff was present-
ed by Rosenberg with a Bible
printed in Israel and bound in
silver by Israeli craftsmen. Its
flyleaf bears this inscription:
"Presented in appreciation to the

for outstanding devotion to the
vital work of assisting refugees
to find freedom and security."
Stone and Warburg were pre-
sented by Gurfein with large sil-
ver salvers.
The sum of 51.000.000 was
pledged for the United Jewish
Appeal at the 23rd annual lunch-
eon of the Council of Organiza-
tions of the UJA of Greater New
York composed of 7.000 lands-
manshaften and other groups. A
total of $100,000 was raised in
cash at the luncheon which was
addressed by Aryeh Pincus. treas-
urer of the Jewish Agency.

on Golden Date

Mr. and Mrs. Hyman Schwartz
will be honored at a dinner
party Wednesday at the Raleigh
House on the occasion of their
golden wedding anniversary.
They were married June 29,
1912, at Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Children are Jacob, Solomon,
Emanuel and Arthur Schwartz.
There are six grandchildren.
